Misty is 2!!

Our little Misty Mae is 2 now. We had family over for a little party. It's so nice for her to know how much she is loved. We appreciate everyone who came.

I have to say that she has been my most challenging child so far. She is such a busy body. I can't leave anything on the table or counter or else she will get into it, eat it, make a mess with it, or all of the above. I guess that is normal for little ones. Wyatt was never that way, which has made toddler-hood a whole different adventure for us with her. She is, although, very bright and a fast learner, so she must be learning a lot through all of her discovering and mischief.

She loves to pour water. If I leave a partially full cup of water on the counter, she will find an empty something (cup, bowl) and pour them back and forth to each other. While very cute, this makes quite a mess. Over time, she has learned where the towels are to clean up her mess, and mom has learned not leave cups of water on the table. That doesn't stop her though. I've caught her drinking milk from her sippy cup, and spitting it into a cup so she could have liquid to pour. She has also fetched water out of the toilet. After that, I decided that it wasn't so bad to let her explore with regular drinking water.

She knows quite a few letters by sight, and a couple of sounds. She learns songs really fast, and always wants me to sing to her. Each of our kids have a song that their daddy has kind of named to each of them, and she loves to hear Misty's song which is "Zoe Jane" by Staind. We substitute "Misty Mae" for Zoe Jane. She loves kittys and playing outside and their pool outside (go figure). As a baby she was always skinny, and she still is, but has filled out some, and still eats just as much as her big brother. She gives the best hugs, and LOVES to play with her baby brother. She makes my days interesting with some of her dramatic fits, but I think that is the package deal when you are given a girl. I love my little princess so much! Happy Birthday!

Side note: I'm not sure what has happened to my blog background. It was just gone one day. I've tried to fix it a few times, but I'm not really sure what I'm doing. Any pointers to help me so I won't have to create anew blog would be appreciated. Thanks!

Misty's 1st Birthday

What a difference a year makes.

So, I know this post took a long time for me to do. (Her birthday was on the 11th) I've been trying to upload this video of her playing in her cake for like a week, and I've had no such luck. So I'll try to get it on here sometime.
Before I go into the fun birthday party, I just wanna talk about my little princess for a minute. Our little Misty Mae is such a little sweetheart. She brings so much joy into our lives in many ways. If she hears music, she is dancing; either swaying or bobbing up and down. She'll also clap her hands and yell throughout it. She has the brightest smiling blue eyes. I can say, "Misty, come give me kisses", and she'll crawl over to me and half-open her mouth close to mine. Her favorite thing to do is either play peek-a-boo or tackle her daddy. She says "mom" and "uh-oh" and "bay" (baby). She hasn't mastered walking yet, but when she does, we're sure it will be a RUN! She is so lively and full of energy. We love our little firecracker.

We had a pizza party and a lot of Misty's cousins were able to be there. They had so much fun watching her open her presents. She actually pulled at the paper and was opening them! It was so fun. She got lots of summer outfits, two baby dolls, and a toy to help her walk that converts into a ride-on toy. She really got into opening that one because it was bigger and she could stand up and pull on the paper.

I was so sure she would be all over in her cake. Well, she might have, if it hadn't scared mom when she grabbed the candle and put out the flame. I quickly pulled her away, and I think that made her uneasy about really playing in it. So she just poked it, and licked the frosting and ate the candy off of it. It was cute, and there was still cake to serve, even though I had an extra. After her cake and ice cream, she was ready for bed.

Nine Months Old!

Wow! Misty is going to be one before I know it. Time definitely flies with the second child. And boy is she keeping up! Every day she is learning something new. She pulls herself up to furniture now, and just today started taking steps while holding on. She waves bye and claps her hands. She loves crackers and books, and also finds interest in big brother's movies for longer than you would expect. Misty also loves to torment her brother by splashing him in the tub. They play so well together otherwise. We have this toy phone that is on wheels and you can pull it by a cord and it will follow you. Wyatt does that in our house and Misty just follows as fast as she can, laughing and excited to maybe get it. Misty is a good sleeper, and up until now, would only go to sleep if we swaddled her really tight. She has been the perfect addition to our family with her vivacious spirit and sweet smile. If she's tired, she loves to snuggle which everyone, especially daddy, enjoys. We love our little girl and can't imagine life without her.

Bittersweet Mobility

Misty is now eight months old as of last week. As of yesterday, she is crawling! Now is when all the excitement and terror begins. I like this stage, because now when I leave the room, she can follow me instead of wondering why I left her alone. I'm not, however, looking forward to her climbing our stairs. They are hard and awkward. Wyatt and I have both taken a fall down them, and even Ross has lost his footing a few times. We are amazed at how fast time is flying. Misty has always enjoyed interacting with her brother, and it won't be long before they are getting into mischief together.

Six Months Already!

I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks now. Our little girl is six and a half months old now. Misty is such a happy little soul. She has a big smile for anyone who fives her attention. She coos and babbles, and I know she's hungry when she says, "Ba ba ba ba." If she wants to get anywhere, she rolls or scoots backward. She's very tall. Last time we went to the doctor, they said she was in the 95th percentile for her height! Can't imagine where she gets it from. She is very snuggly when she's tired, which I just eat up and savor when I can. Her mind is so busy and I know once she gets to crawling, we're going to have avery curious baby on our hands. She loves to play with her hands and feet and any toy or book interests her. She also loves to watch her brother play, but it really makes her laugh when he plays with her. It has been so fun to watch them play together and love each other. We're so grateful for our little ray of sunshine.
